Residential Solar Consultant

Position Description

Third Sun Solar’s Residential Solar Consultants strive to exceed customer expectations and build strong relationships with homeowners in a no pressure, consultative process.  They actively identify and pursue their own leads in addition to receiving leads from the company.  They evaluate customer needs and goals, address customer’s questions and concerns, and then develop solar PV solutions that are optimized for each customer using an automated design and proposal tool.  Residential Solar Consultants will spend much of their time traveling to and visiting with prospective customers at their homes. Residential Solar Consultants are the primary external representatives of Third Sun Solar and are expected to convey a sense of expertise in services and capabilities offered. This position requires tact, adaptability, confidence, and a high degree of customer service and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Sales of residential solar electric and backup power systems.
  • Full life cycle business development, from lead generation to referral networking.
  • Clear understanding of sales cycle, contract agreements and ability to explain and review agreements to close customers at homes.
  • Prospecting for, and qualifying self-generated leads.
  • Conduct preliminary satellite map site evaluations to develop initial system designs using industry specific design tools.
  • Utilizing Third Sun Solar/industry tools to generating project proposals/quotes for customers.
  • Utilizing Third Sun Solar/industry tools to analyze customer’s current and projected electrical usage and calculate financial return on investment and economic payback.
  • Maintaining prospects/projects in Salesforce or similar CRM.

Position requirements:

  • Resident of greater Cincinnati
  • 2 years minimum of consumer sales experience (preferably in-home)
  • Strong track record of full cycle business development
  • Hunter mentality with the ability to excel at self-generating leads and winning new business
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed monthly sales targets
  • Strong track record of achievement as evidenced by sales awards, beating quota, building a new book of business or growing a market, etc.
  • Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel CRM experience
  • Four-year college degree (preferred)
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Valid driver’s license/clean driving record
  • Public speaking and presentations skills
  • Minor travel requirements for events, training and customer home visits
  • Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends for staffing industry events.

The Job Description  

 

Summary:   

Primarily responsible for the installation of the electrical components of a Solar PV system.  Travel is required within Ohio and surrounding states. Full time – M-Th/F – 10 hour shifts typical.

  1. Installation: Work with the installation team to build solar electrical systems for residential and commercial customers. Installing conduit, mounting equipment, and wiring electrical components. Connecting of the Solar PV systems into existing electrical systems and running data cable to set up monitoring systems.
  2. Management: Required to manage tasks and work schedule.  Along with coordinating the installation work and inspections with local permitting authorities and utilities. May be required to oversee other members of the team in training of electrical installation.
  3. Communication: Working under the direction of the Project Managers, and in coordination with all members of the Third Sun Solar, LLC., team to ensure that all parties are communicated with and working toward our values.
  4. Physical: Working on lifts, ladders, rooftops, and other hard to access areas.  Manual dexterity required for frequent reaching, climbing, and lifting of objects up to 75lbs.  You will also be required to operation power tools.  Ares of work could be in confined spaces, with variable weather, and variable heights.
  5. Safety: Required to wear all safety gear and perform all safety as required by the policies of Third Sun Solar, LLC. It is also your responsibility to ensure that all vehicle safety is followed such as no distracted driving, and ensuring your assigned vehicle is clean and organized.

 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma required
  • At least six to twelve months experience working on residential and commercial electrical systems
  • Proficiency working with and bending all sizes of metallic and PVC conduit
  • Understanding of the National Electric Code and applying it to electrical installations and service work
  • Experience trouble shooting electrical systems in a residential and commercial environment
  • Experience working with power generation systems
  • Experience with Solar Photovoltaics is a plus
  • Basic computer proficiency, including the use of applications on a cell phone
  • Experience running data cable and working with monitoring systems
  • Must be willing and have the ability for 2 to 4 nights of weekly overnight travel
  • Must have the ability to qualify for a drug and alcohol-free work place policy including annual and random testing.
  • Ability to read, and analyze plan sets processes and procedures
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs. frequently

  2. Management:  Required to manage your time and your installation teams time to ensure that all standard policies, practices, and guidelines are followed.  You will lead your team to ensure quality and efficiencies and provide guidance to your team during the installation process and as questions arise.
  3. Communication: Working under the direction of the Project Managers, and in coordination with all members of the Third Sun Solar, LLC., team to ensure that all parties are communicated with and working toward our values. Effective leadership communication is required.
  4. Physical:  Working on lifts, ladders, rooftops, and other hard to access areas.  Manual dexterity required for frequent reaching, climbing, and lifting of objects up to 75lbs.  You will also be required to operate power tools.  Ares of work could be in confined spaces, with variable weather, and variable heights.
